JYM PreWorkout Review – A Quality PreWorkout!

If you have been in the fitness game for some length of time, you may very well have heard of the JYM PreWorkout. Within this article, I will be providing a JYM PreWorkout Review! Which is as of now, my favourite pre-workout!

Within this review, I will be including an overall description of the product, its effectiveness, as well as a pros and cons section so you can see if it is a good choice for you!

 

What is JYM Pre Workout:

The JYM PreWorkout is a high-quality supplement to take before training sessions to give you a boost. It features the proper dosages of ingredients that work. It is a great bang for your buck supplement. Yes, it is on the pricier side of pre-workouts. However, as we all know, you get what you pay for!

One of the main ingredients associated with a pre-workout is caffeine. Anywhere between 3 and 6 milligrams per kilogram of body weight has been shown to be effective for performance benefits. With this pre-workout containing 300 milligrams of caffeine, a 100-kilogram individual would be able to reap the caffeine benefits from a single scoop.

I am sure we all love pumps in the gym. If that is what you are looking for, then this product is definitely a solid option for you! It contains 6 grams of Citrulline Malate (4 of which come from pure Citrulline, which is a good ratio). Citrulline, or in the form of this pre-workout, Citrulline Malate is a vasodilator (allows for more blood flow). The recommended dosage for Citrulline Malate is between 6 and 8 grams. So this pre-workout features just the right amount!

Another beneficial ingredient in pre-workouts is Beta-Alanine. This ingredient works to reduce fatigue levels during shorter duration exercise by helping remove acid buildup in your muscles. There are 2 grams of Beta-Alanine within this pre-workout. This is on the lower side of effective dosing, but can certainly still be effective.

While there are many other ingredients within this pre-workout that can be beneficial, these are the main ones that are the “meat and potatoes” of the product.

My Personal Experience With This Product:

Before talking about my personal experience with the benefits of this product, I would like to say that if you are new to training, I would not suggest using a pre-workout. Train for a year and get the fundamentals down, then consider using a pre-workout to help with performance.

Although I am only 16, I trained for over a year without using any form of pre-workout. Only once I had a solid foundation did I start to take a pre-workout supplement. By no means are pre-workouts ever needed for training. However, they can be beneficial.

So… what do I think of this pre-workout? As I said, it is my favourite pre-workout as of now. It has the perfect amount of caffeine to give me that extra energy at 4 milligrams per kilogram (for my body weight). I find this product aids in my focus due to the caffeine as well. It also provides performance benefits through the other effectively dosed ingredients that allow me to squeak out that extra rep or two!

Although branched-chain amino acids are not all they are hyped up to be, I like the fact that they are included within this pre-workout in the proper amounts from quality sources for hydration benefits.

I would suggest this pre-workout as an outstanding all-around product for those in search of the classic pre-workout benefits including energy, focus and pump/performance benefits.

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

The major pro of this pre-workout would be the effectively dosed and quality ingredients included within it. These actually yield benefits, which means you are paying for a product that can actually be of benefit to you!

The second benefit of this product speaks to the positive effects people have experienced when taking it. The ingredients and dosages actually work, which as I said, I have experienced myself firsthand.

The last of the primary benefits of this pre-workout would be the taste. At first, I had to get used to it. This didn’t take long, and now it is one of my proffered tasting pre-workouts on the market. This because it doesn’t have an after-taste or chalky texture, it mixes well and the flavours themselves are quite good!

I personally mix the powder with 24 ounces of water as the large scoop brings on a strong taste. However, the amount of water used would be determined based of the preference of the individual taking it!

Cons:

Seeing as this is one of my favourite pre workouts, you would think there aren’t may cons/issues I have with the product. Well… you would be right! Both of the topics I am about to bring up are not related to the quality or effectiveness of the product itself, rather by-products of the actual benefits from the product.

If you are on a limited budget, this likely isn’t the best option for you as the quality of this product comes with a price tag. With that being said, if you are on a limited budget, you likely should not even be looking into pre workouts. This is because, as I said at the beginning, they certainly are NEVER required to obtain a solid training session!

The only other drawback of this product would be the Beta-Alanine within it. Many people do not enjoy the itchy feeling they get from pre workouts. The ingredient that causes this is… well, you guessed it, Beta-Alanine. If you want to stay away from the itches, I would suggest staying away from this product and finding one that doesn’t have Beta-Alanine in it.

Concluding Remarks:

All in all, I am sure you can tell that my opinion of the JYM Pre Workout is of high regard. It has quality ingredients in proper dosages that will yield benefits. I can attest to this as I have personally experienced the benefits of this product!

  1. I am always looking for a good pre-workout. I am slightly older than you (I turn 39 on Monday!) so it helps tremendously just to get me in the mood to work out. How long have you used JYM pre-workout? How would you compare the tingling feeling from the beta-alanine to other similar pre-workouts? I actually enjoy that part of it, gets me even more ready to work out! Thank you for the review!

    • Hi Travis, thanks for checking out the article! It’s always great when you find a quality pre-workout! I have used the JYM pre-workout for about 8-9 months total (not 8-9 months back to back). I would say the tingly feeling is average when comparing it to other pre-workouts, maybe slightly less. I can agree, I certainly don’t mind the tingly feel myself!
